The show was great and we captured footage for the documentary. One still below, more soon. Shalom on Instagram @lom_veille. Sign up for our mailing list for updates (below).

What is the connection between Taza Impact, the Dusoma Foundation Board, and Artificial Intelligence?

Answer: There are several intersection. See “Dusoma.org > Mission to learn about Shalom Kansiime. Shalom (they/them) is both the artistic director and founder of the Fashion House: Taza Impact, based in Denver Colorado, and Co-Chair of Dusoma:AI for Humanity, as Subject Matter Expert lead on Case Management, particularly related to the needs of Queer refugees in east Africa. As a result, the Dusoma Foundation has been connected to a large grassroots network that extends to four countries in east Africa.

Shalom Kansiime (they/them) is a refugee from Uganda. They fled due to anti-gay legislation that was passed. The Dusoma Foundation has two co-chairs: Kathryn Born and Shalom Kansiime. See our transparency page to learn more about our AI being refugee-centered. But more important, Shalom’s brand has a motto: Fashion as Queer Resistance in East Africa.

What does that mean? Fashion as Queer Resistance in East Africa. The Dusoma Brand features stories and images from east Africa’s vibrant queer youth scene like no other American brand. The alignment between Dusoma and Taza Impact is that not only should African refugees no longer be invisible; they should be seen for their beauty. (Do a quick search on “famous super models from Sudan”). We work with artists, fashion designers, trans people – particularly transwomen.

History: Their Closet was a safehouse in Nairobi for transmen, lesbians and female-identifying people by any definition. They received funding only between 2022-2023, and the space subsequently closed.

If you donate here- it all goes to the same place: the Dusoma Foundation.
