Kathy Hochul is protecting the people who bankroll her. Her biggest donors are billionaires with penthouses and private jets. Every time she calls a wealth tax a “non-starter,” it’s a thank-you note to the hedge-fund class that funds her campaigns.
According to a report by Hedge Clippers, Hochul’s campaign raised about USD 2.5 million from 51 donors each classified as billionaires or spouses of billionaires. These donors were reported to have a collective net-worth of over USD 264 billion.

Some of the named donors in that list include: Stephen M. Ross (net worth ~11.6 billion), Leonard Lauder (~21.8 billion), Leonard Blavatnik (~33.2 billion), Eric Schmidt (~16.8 billion) all listed as giving the maximum contribution (~USD 69,700) to her campaign.
